Hung Yen promotes e-commerce, helping local products reach a wider market

Ms. To Thi Huong Lan - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Hung Yen province

According to the Head of the Department of Industry and Trade, Hung Yen possesses a prime geographical location, a well-connected transportation infrastructure, and abundant economic resources, including hundreds of high-quality OCOP products, as well as handicraft products, ceramics, wood products, textiles, and processed industrial products. However, relying solely on traditional distribution channels through traders or local markets limits the province's product value chain and exposes it to price manipulation during peak harvest seasons. " E-commerce is the key to unlocking new development opportunities, bringing Hung Yen products closer to tens of millions of domestic consumers and aiming for cross-border exports ," the Head of the Department of Industry and Trade emphasized.

Therefore, the Department of Industry and Trade of Hung Yen province will always accompany and proactively advise on mechanisms, policies, and infrastructure to support the business community, cooperatives, and small traders to confidently develop their businesses in the digital space.

There is great potential for agricultural products and local specialties.

In the first six months of 2026, the Vietnamese e-commerce market continued to demonstrate strong growth potential, opening up many opportunities for businesses and households to undergo digital transformation and expand their product markets. Speaking at the Conference on E-commerce Law and Overview and Current E-commerce Development Trends, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan - Director of eComDX - stated that total e-commerce sales in the first six months of 2026 reached VND 291.6 trillion, an increase of 44.11% compared to the same period. Shopee and TikTok Shop continued to play a dominant role, accounting for a combined 97.9% market share by revenue, indicating increasing competition concentrated on large platforms.

Notably, the grocery and food sector recorded a growth rate of 151.08%, becoming one of the fastest-growing sectors in the online market. This trend shows that consumers are increasingly willing to shop for essential goods through digital platforms, creating significant opportunities for agricultural products, processed foods, and local specialties.

Therefore, Mr. Tuan suggested that, for Hung Yen province, this is an important opportunity for businesses, cooperatives, and household businesses to bring their local strengths such as longan, bananas, agricultural products, processed foods, and traditional specialties to consumers nationwide.

Opening up unlimited trading opportunities for businesses and consumers.

Also within the framework of the Conference, representatives from the Center for E-commerce Development (eComDX) introduced the Hung Yen E-commerce Platform - a branch of the consolidated sanviet.vn platform. With a diverse and abundant product catalog, the Hung Yen E-commerce Platform opens up unlimited trading space for businesses and consumers, playing a powerful role as a digital economy launchpad helping OCOP products and local industrial products reach the national market.

Recently, the Department of Industry and Trade of Hung Yen province has implemented many policies to support businesses and business households participating in online sales, including support for training and skill development in online business and product promotion. The two e-commerce training conferences organized by the Department of Industry and Trade in collaboration with eComDX on October 15th and 16th were practical activities aimed at raising awareness and improving e-commerce application skills for businesses, cooperatives, and business households in the area.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade affirmed: “We will continue to take the lead and closely coordinate with the Center for E-commerce Development (eComDX) to complete the upgrading of the Hung Yen Provincial E-commerce Platform; provide access accounts to each commune, ward, enterprise, cooperative, and business household to regularly monitor and update product information; and at the same time, integrate and link data between the Hung Yen Provincial E-commerce Platform and the E-commerce Platforms of other provinces and cities to connect supply and demand across regions .  ”

AI is becoming a practical tool to support farmers.

In the AI training program for households, cooperatives, and production facilities in Hung Yen, the Director of eComDX focused on hands-on guidance, emphasizing the principle of creating products immediately after learning, and prioritizing practical tasks that can be applied directly to business operations.

First, Mr. Tuan guided the trainees in using tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini to build promotional content, identify product highlights, and write introductions suitable for each customer group. Next, they practiced using AI to design professional product images, create beautiful photo backdrops, edit images from original photos, and build packaging, labels, and advertising images that reflect local identity…

For short videos, students are guided step-by-step on using AI to build scripts, create illustrations, select shots, camera movements and lighting, and then finalize videos showcasing the production process, product story, usage, and unique local value for posting on TikTok, Facebook, and other online sales channels.

The training conference attracted considerable interest from state management officials, businesses, business households, and cooperatives in Hung Yen province.

The practical training process was guided directly by Mr. Tuan using the local specialty products, specifically from taking product photos with a phone, writing commands for AI, creating promotional images, designing packaging, to completing a short video... Thanks to this, the trainees were able to practice effectively. Some older trainees shared that they were initially hesitant to interact with new technology, fearing they wouldn't be familiar with it, but after receiving dedicated guidance, they were able to design images or short videos introducing their business's products, and therefore were very enthusiastic and excited.

The trainees participate in practical exercises.

Thanks to the practical training content, the conference helped business households and cooperatives feel that AI is no longer a foreign technology but has become a practical support tool, helping production and business establishments in Hung Yen save time, reduce advertising costs, enhance brand image to better reach customers, and gradually bring local products to a wider market.

Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, To Thi Huong Lan, expressed hope that after the two training conferences, state management of e-commerce at the grassroots level would become increasingly effective; the business community, cooperatives, and business households would be more confident and develop more reputable and high-quality "digital stores," contributing positively to the overall socio-economic development of Hung Yen province.
